My name is Kurt and over the last four months I’ve worked to change my lifestyle and habits to help me finally get healthy. I turned 40 at the start of the year and felt that it was now or never for me to turn my life around when it comes to food and exercise.
A little backstory; I’ve been a big guy my whole life, tall and pudgy. I stopped being involved in sports after my freshman year of high school and my weight has never looked back. The majority of my adult life I’ve been over 300 pounds and always told myself that I carry my weight well because of my height and shouldn’t really be concerned about it. As I’ve gotten older though, the aches and pains continue to increase and I’ve caught glimpses of what my excessive weight is capable of in my body. I finally decided that change was necessary.
So in January I cut alcohol out of my lifestyle as a first step. In February, I cut out sodas and started the beginners track of DDP Yoga. Then in March, I started a transition to a gluten and dairy free lifestyle. It’s now the last day of April as I write this and I’m down almost 30 pounds, but it’s time for some more improvement. This blog is one part in my journey to better health as a journal/accountability tool for me as I take on a new challenge: DDP Yoga Beast Mode 90. This is a 90 day challenge to up your game in nutrition and fitness and I am excited to share this new journey with you! I hope that along the way we can all inspire each other to be the best versions of ourselves possible.
Let’s get at it!
